CANCELLED: Stitch and Sip: Samplers 1.0
February 20 @4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Like a quilting bee or a sewing circle, this program mixes needlework with socializing. Starting simple and always leaving with a project you can continue to work on at home, this program is a mix of 19th century needle skill work and social fun. Isabel and Frederic Church acquired a diverse collection of embroidered textiles and needlework artworks showing their love for texture and color on fabrics. Join us for instruction, practice, which will be followed by a second half of working, wine and cheese, all with a masterful instructor whose skills help keep this tradition alive. Supplies provided.
This series will be taught by Sandra Feck who “fell in love with fibers and colors when I was very young, probably no older than 6 or 7. My mother taught me to knit and do surface embroidery at that time. She taught me to sew garments by the age of 10. As I grew older, I expanded into tailoring, quilting, tatting, and crocheting lace.” She describes needlework as one of the “gentle arts” and enjoys sharing that passion through teaching. She currently serves as the Program Committee Chairperson and Vice President of the Capital District Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America. Series continues Saturday, March 19 and Saturday, April 23.
