The Artist’s House: The Church Family at Olana and Abroad
Frederic Church was an artist-explorer and a dedicated family man. Follow Church through the Americas and the Middle East and see how world travel motivated his artistic endeavors, particularly at Olana. This guided tour explores the motivations of Church’s travels from the Andes to the Middle East and their effect on his artistic enterprises, expressed in Olana’s larger 250-acre design. Participants will also learn about the central role that his wife Isabel played in creating a home for this traveling family and the patterns of domestic life at Olana and abroad. This participatory experience is best paired with a landscape Walking Tour.
